About County Plan Watch
County Plan Watch shows what changed in Medicare Advantage and Part D plans in each US county, built directly from the public plan landscape files published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Independent. We are not affiliated with Medicare, CMS, any government agency, insurer or broker. We do not sell or enrol you in plans, and we do not collect your personal information.
Method
We download the CY2026 and CY2027 landscape files, count plans by category in each county, compare which parent companies offer plans in each year, and add counties that have no plans from the US Census county list. Our counts are checked by an independent recalculation from the raw files before each update. Other analysts may count slightly differently: for example, KFF reports 193 counties without an Advantage plan with drug coverage for 2027, where our count is 187.
Corrections
Send the plan name, county and the official source to corrections@countyplanwatch.com. Corrections are free. We never accept payment to change, add or remove anything.
